Shaftless spirals
We keep a few standard sizes of shaftless spirals in stock.
Spirals are produced from standard flat steel wound around a mandrel, and consequently, the dimensions available are limited. Please contact us for price and possibilities regarding shaftless spirals in specific sizes.
If a large numbers of flights are required, shaftless spirals are often the most economical solution.
Shaftless spirals are not manufactured from wear-resistant steel like e.g. Hardox. If a shaftless spiral from Hardox steel is required, it is possible to weld pressed flights.
However, the disadvantage of shaftless spirals is the fact that they are thinnest at the edges. The maximum wear occurs at the edges of the screw, resulting in faster wear of a shaftless spiral compared to the wear of a screw made from pressed flights, with the same material thickness all around.
